Project Natal - The future of gaming?

If you haven't already heard of it, check this out NOW

This makes the Wii totally obsolete. This makes the PS3's new controller's totally obsolete.

No need for controls, just a box which has voice, facial and full body movement recognition.

I can't wait to get one!

looks good. But sometimes I think it would be more convenient to have a controller, driving for example.

I agree, a controller provides feedback in the way of resistance or rumble which is cool, but I can't say I have particularly cared much about the rumble in all the Halo 3 I play. Maybe I would miss it if I didn't have it, not sure.

FPS games using this new system will be interesting. They haven't shown a video yet of someone holding up their hand as if they are holding a gun, and then pulling their trigger finger. If Natal can detect the trigger finger movement then that is solved.

Natal sure looks like it will keep you moving!

1 question though, when they were driving, how did it know which person to monitor? and when you are playing a agame is it going to pick up the movements of other people in the room going about daily life?

Just a thought :?:

It has complete facial recognition, so I think it knew that the daughter was the driver, and then when the father popped up it knew to change the wheels. They must have set it this way beforehand.

As for people moving past it who aren't playing, I can see that as potentially being a problem only if it doesn't realise that they aren't playing. If it's a single player game and someone is already infront of the tv, then I am sure a person moving past won't affect it.

FINALLY I CAN GO AROUND SHOOTING KRAUTS ON CALL OF DUTY RATHER THAN PRETENDING TO SHOO THEM WITH MY DADS AIR RIFLE!
